The renewal of the city’s main train station can become an opportunity to imagine a new configuration of the gateway to the city of Baotou. The project plans to regenerate the entire neighborhood near the station area through the introduction of new centralities. The bundle of tracks is not considered as a barrier anymore, but as an opportunity for urban mending, capable of linking the city with the Yellow River and the archaeological area.
The neighboring areas become new trading and industrial sites, high-tech, linked to university research. The redevelopment area is meant to be a driving force for a global process of enhancement and upgrading of the entire neighborhood. The proposed project aims at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants who live in the place during the different times of day.
